Technical Notes
The arm geometry was derived from a simple cantilever model with a 4 kg point load at the tip. Wall thickness varies along the arm — thicker at the root, tapering toward the tip — producing the visual taper while maintaining constant stress distribution. There is no unnecessary material.
The mounting plate uses a single M5 bolt in a vertical slot, allowing fine height adjustment on installation. A friction-fit cover cap conceals the bolt head — retained by interference fit only. No adhesive, no tools required to remove.
Material and process:
- ASA chosen over ABS for UV stability — no topcoat required
- 0.2 mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 40% gyroid infill
- Matte black filament — surface texture is inherent, not applied
- Mounting hardware: A2 stainless steel M5 hex socket
- Wall plate: 3 mm mild steel, powder-coated black
- Tested load: 6 kg static, 1000-cycle dynamic at 2 kg
